"The Circus" Series Illustrations | A Black Fairy Tale of Role Reversal
When the spectator in the cage becomes the spectacle—
This series depicts the alienation of a little girl in an animal-ruled circus: from a terrified awakening, to being forced to learn "animal etiquette," until she finally becomes part of the grotesque performance. Through this absurd role reversal, we might come to realize: When humans force animals to perform, who is really taming whom?
