Goodnight, Little sheep
This vase was created as part of a ceramics project. On the front is the image of a sheep, with textured wool details and a hidden kitten nestled within. The back shows a single teardrop falling down. The body of the vase is composed of red and blue, symbolizing the contrast and blend of emotions, and is filled with many small illustrations that reflect my deep longing for my sister. The sheep represents her, as the last character of her name is pronounced like “yang” (sheep) in Chinese. That side of the vase also includes symbols of death and mourning, such as the red spider lily and the small cat—once my roommate’s pet, who passed away unexpectedly. Through this piece, I hoped to express both the pain of loss and the tender details that live on in memory.
